West Indies tour of Pakistan: Commandos deployed for security of West Indies series in Karachi

West Indies cricket team arrived safe and sound in Pakistan ahead of T20I and ODI series.

According to The News report, Karachi Police has prepared a security plan for the three Twenty20 and three One Day Internationals between Pakistan and West Indies, starting from December 13 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The plan was prepared in a meeting chaired by Additional Inspector General Imran Yakub Minhas at Sindh Boys Scouts Auditorium on Thursday. DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Maqsood Ahmed informed about the stringent security measures for the visit.

A total of 46 DSPs including 13 senior officers of Karachi Police, 315 NGOs, 3,822 constables and head constables, 50 women police personnel, 500 personnel of Rapid Response Force and 889 commandos of Special Security Unit will perform security duties. The report said that the Karachi Traffic Police during matches at the National Stadium, routes, practice grounds, parking areas, hotels and other areas.

Special branch personnel in plain clothes will be deployed at the National Stadium and hotels. A special weapon and strategy team will be ready to deal with the emergency.
