NOIDA: Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association (FONRWA) has written to Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Suhas LY demanding local level vaccination centers at community centers in various areas.
The residents’ body claims that many citizens from different sections and especially the sick elderly are not able to go to the selected centers established so far, while at times the information about the centers is not available in time.
The vaccination campaign is being run by the district hospital. But despite all the efforts of senior officials, the target of vaccination is not being met. This is because residents of all sections are not able to take advantage of the select immunization centers set up by the health department,” said KK Jain, general secretary of Fonarva.
Jain said that a demand was made from Sunil Sharma, Chief Medical Officer of GB Nagar. But since then no action has been taken in this matter.
He said, “The main reason for not meeting the target of vaccination is the lack of timely information to the people. Often, vaccination centers are informed a day or two in advance,” said Yogendra Sharma, president of Fonerwa.
When contacted, District Immunization Officer Dr Neeraj Tyagi said that mega vaccination campaigns are being run from time to time through vaccination centers near residential areas.
“We have a mega vaccination drive for Friday, where around 40 centers have been set up near residential areas,” Tyagi said.
