Surat: Notorious bootlegger after the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) arrested key players of illegal liquor smuggling gang in the state. Vinod Sindhi Fearing imminent arrest, he fled the country.
According to police, Sindhi’s last confirmed location is Dubai And that he had escaped days before the Botad poison tragedy.
The actual size of Sindhi operations was disclosed by Nagdan Gadhvi Which was caught by SMC. The police came to know that the liquor smugglers Gadhvi and Sunil alias Ado Ramani used to work for Sindhi. Scrutiny of his financial transactions revealed that a transaction of Rs 44 crore was done through an Angadiya firm in the last six months.
“Sindhi operated through five to six different persons and each had transactions worth crores. He is the key player who supplied liquor from Haryana to Gujarat,” a police officer told TOI.
Soon after Gadhvi’s arrest, Sindhi He realized that he might be next and fled from Mumbai to Dubai.
Sindhi is one of the accused in the murder of gangster Mukesh Harjani in Vadodara. The investigation so far has revealed that Sindhi is active in bootlegging for the last 10 years and is settled in Chandigarh. He is a native of Vadodara and had developed his own network of liquor supply in the border districts of north and central Gujarat.
