Zimbabwe all-rounder Ryan Burle insisted that his team will have to do their best in their deciding final Group B match in the first round of the ICC Men’s T20. World Cup against Scotland to enter the Super 12 stage of the tournament.

Sikandar Raza’s all-rounder talent helped Zimbabwe return to the T20 World Cup with a convincing 31-run win over Ireland in their first Group B match. But despite restricting the two-time champions to 153/7 on Wednesday, they lost to West Indies by 31 runs.

With one win and one loss, Zimbabwe are now in a winning zone before facing Scotland, a match that is in the shadow of being interrupted due to rain forecast.

“I think we have to get the job done first. It’s a win-win game for both the teams as well as all the four teams in the group. We need to do our best tomorrow (against Scotland) to get the win. will have to perform.

“I think it goes without saying, it would be a great achievement for any team in the group (to progress to the Super 12 stage). Obviously we aim to get into this group stage. Press before the match “Do whatever you can to make sure you’re among the top two,” Burle said at the conference.

Asked about the mood of the Zimbabwe camp ahead of the match, Burle said, “The mood in the camp is good. I think obviously there’s a little bit of panic around the group now knowing we have to win the next game. But the morale is good. The boys are very excited. We want to make sure we are on the next stage.”

Burl, a left-handed batsman-cum-legspinner, will be eyeing to step up to the occasion for Zimbabwe on Friday. “Playing the role of an all-rounder, you try to be in the party in at least one aspect of the game. I haven’t really made an impact yet, but a good show is on the way. Hope this is a match win. I think I’m (for) some run. It would be nice to put Zimbabwe in a winning position.”
