One terrorist was killed and one arrested in Kashmir on Thursday, while explosives were recovered near a railway station in Jammu. Meanwhile, a jawan, who was injured in the Baramulla encounter on Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the terrorist was killed during an encounter that took place at Asthan Marg in Kulgam’s Kausarnag area.

The search operation continued on Thursday in North Kashmir’s Baramulla, where the encounter started on Wednesday.

“A local Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, Nisar Ahmed Bhat, from Srakaviya Kriri, Baramulla, has been caught alive. One foreign terrorist, Usman Bhai, is still in an injured condition,” said Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar.

He said Usman had earlier this year managed to escape from an encounter site in Malwah.

“Rifleman Kulbhushan Manta had sustained gunshot wounds when a search operation was launched on Wednesday morning and was hit by the bullets of the terrorists. He was taken by helicopter to the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar. However, he succumbed on October 27, 2022,” the Army said.

The deceased soldier is survived by his wife. “The mortal remains of Bahadur will be sent for last rites to his native place at village Gauth in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and will be cremated with full military honors on October 28, 2022,” the army said.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that a bag was found near the taxi stand at Jammu railway station.

Explosive material packed in two boxes was found in the bag. Eighteen detonators and some strings were recovered. About 500 grams of wax-like material were packed in the box. Officials said the material has been confiscated.

An alert has been issued in Jammu after recovering.

In north Kashmir’s Bandipora, a low-intensity blast occurred in Alosa, when an army vehicle was passing by. “No casualties have been reported,” police said.
