The Aam Aadmi Party on 10 April said that it has collected over 10 lakh signatures during its door-to-door campaign against the arrest of its leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain.

AAP’s Delhi unit convenor Gopal Rai said that thereafter a letter would be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi protesting the arrest of Mr. Sisodia and Mr. Jain.

The party had last month launched a door-to-door campaign in all wards of Delhi to collect signatures from residents.

“Our target was to collect 10 lakh signatures and we achieved it on Sunday. Our district in-charge, Lok Sabha in-charge and councilors were involved in the campaign,” Mr Rai said.

Everyone knows that Mr. Sisodia and Mr. Jain were the people who changed the education and healthcare system in the national capital, Mr. Rai claimed.

He said during a press conference, “Mr. Sisodia transformed government schools, while Mr. Jain gave the model of Mohalla clinics. People are angry that these people have been put behind bars.”

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj thanked the people of Delhi for supporting the campaign.

The CBI had arrested Mr. Sisodia on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-cancelled Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Mr Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case in May last year.

Both had resigned from the Delhi cabinet in February.
