Pet dog in leopard’s mouth, panic among locals in Tamil Nadu

Udhagamandalam (Tamil Nadu):

A video of a leopard carrying a dog in its mouth in the vicinity of the Tamil Nadu government guest house in Udhagamandalam on Friday created panic among residents.

Following the purported viral video of the leopard descending from the second floor of Tamizhakam with the pet dog in its mouth, which is a guest house located in the nearby West Oda area, the people of the area urged the forest department to trap the animal. ,

Forest department officials said movement of leopards was common around ‘Tamizhakam’ during the night, while efforts were on to prevent the animals from entering human habitation.

Police said that in view of the leopard’s movements, residents had already urged the department to capture it by putting a cage in the area.

With around 300 houses behind the government guest house in West Oda, the movement of leopards during the night caused panic among residents and the video has added to their fears, police said.
