Petrol, diesel price today: Bad news on the first day of the month! Here is the big update on the price of petrol and diesel

New Delhi: Contrary to widespread speculation that petrol and diesel prices will change, fuel prices were not cut by oil marketing companies as expected on the first day of the month. New rates are being published by OMCs every day at 6 am, there has been no reduction in the price of petrol and diesel.

Yesterday, several media had reported that petrol and diesel prices would be cut by 40 paise per litre. The new prices will be effective from 6 am on Tuesday, November 1.

On Monday, petrol was priced at Rs 96.72 in the national capital, Rs 106.03 in Kolkata, Rs 106.31 in Mumbai and Rs 102.63 in Chennai.

The fall in the prices was expected due to the fall in international crude oil prices and to remain stable for some time. Crude oil prices have remained below $95 per barrel for some time now.

Had the OMCs announced a cut in diesel and petrol prices, the fall in fuel prices would have come after remaining stable for more than six months. The last price cut was made on 7 April this year.
