The Hyundai Alcazar marked the South Korean carmaker’s entry into the 3-row SUV space in India. Essentially, the three-row version of the company’s popular compact SUV, the Hyundai Creta, the Alcazar was launched with several best-in-segment features, which made it a good value proposition. And so it keeps happening. Right now, Hyundai sells around 3,000 units of Alcazar on an average every month. So, if you are planning to buy the Hyundai Alcazar now, here are some key advantages and disadvantages that you should know about the three-row SUV.

1. The Hyundai Alcazar is an elegant looking SUV, and gives it proper SUV credit with features like LED headlights, LED DRLs, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED taillamps and side-steps.

3. Hyundai BlueLink also offers a 10.25-inch infotainment system with the connected car system that comes with OTA map updates. The SUV also gets a voice-enabled smart panoramic sunroof.

4. The Hyundai Alcazar is not only longer than the Creta but also gets a 150 mm longer wheelbase at 2760 mm.

5. The combination of a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 6-speed automatic torque converter makes the Alcazar a very attractive SUV to drive.

Shortcoming

1. While the Alcazar is bigger than the Creta, the cabin doesn’t seem that big. It feels very compact, and the black interiors make it look even tighter.

2. The third row of Alcazar is so tight that adults cannot sit comfortably. It’s only good for kids, and that too for short distances.

3. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine from the Creta is also not available on the Alcazar as an option, and this is a big omission.

If you have more members in your family then the 7-seater Alcazar Platinum would be a good option, however, it is not offered with the top-end trim

4. Hyundai is not offering enough variants with the 7-seater cabin layout. The top-end variant doesn’t even get it as an option, so you’ll have to stick to the entry- or mid-spec trims for the 7-seater variant.

5. The entry variants of the Hyundai Alcazar are a bit expensive. Both the Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV700 have undercut it by a huge margin.
