PM contacts officials, asks for details of flood preparedness Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Thursday, he sought details of the arrangements being made in Varanasi to deal with the challenge posed by the rising Ganga.

He expressed his concern and inquired about arrangements for shifting people from low-lying areas in case of possible floods.
“The PM asked us to take immediate action to provide help and relief to the people,” the officials said, adding, “We were also asked to contact them directly in case of any need for special help in the flood relief work.”
The commissioner apprised the PM about the trend of rising water level of the Ganga and its tributaries, the preparations being made by the administration to deal with any emergency and arrangements for flood relief camps.
