Arsenal scored two late goals to rescue a point in a 3-3 home draw with bottom club Southampton, but their Premier League title hopes were dealt another blow on a night of frazzled nerves in north London on Friday.

The Gunners fell behind by two goals within 15 minutes, with goals from Carlos Alcaraz and former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott to silence the Emirates crowd.

Gabriele Martinelli returned for the Gunners after 20 minutes and Arsenal were millimeters away from equalizing in stoppage time as Ben White’s header was cleared off the line.

Southampton may have weakened under home pressure in the second half, but instead restored a two-goal lead in the 66th minute as substitute Duje Caleta-Carr went over the back post.

With defeat looming, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard then headed home in the 87th minute and two minutes later Bukayo Saka scored from close range to spread bedlam in the stadium.

Arsenal laid siege to the Southampton goal but could not find a crucial winner.

After the final whistle both sets of players collapsed on the turf, helping neither side.
