After Rahul returns from a foreign tour, party leaders can persuade him to give up his reluctance to contest elections and accept the reins of the organisation.
Rahul stepped down after the fall of Congress in May 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and is said to have told the party that no one from the Gandhi family would take the lead.
While the party is in the news that he will not return to the leadership chair, a source close to him refused to dismiss it outright.

Interestingly, AICC secretary Vamshi Chand Reddy tweeted that he is a PCC member from Telangana and is looking forward to signing Rahul’s nomination paper as a proposer.
