RCB to retire jersey number 17 and 333 as tribute to Hall of Fame stars AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle

Last year, RCB announced that the two legendary stars would be inducted into the Hall of Fame as Virat Kohli, who has played a lot of cricket with the duo, shared a special message for them.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have decided to retire the jersey numbers of their former players AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle – two iconic stars who served the franchise for many years and won many matches for them. De Villiers joined RCB in 2011 and scored 4491 runs for them in a total of 156 matches spanning 11 seasons. He scored 37 half-centuries and 2 centuries for the Bangalore-based franchise.

While Gayle scored 3163 runs while playing for RCB from 2011 to 2017. He scored five centuries in the RCB jersey, including an innings of 175 which is still the highest score by a batsman in IPL history.

The mega unbox event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium will be a curtain raiser for the next season of RCB as celebrities like Sonu Nigam and Jason Derulo will perform at the event.
