Repeat Gujarat hospital’s transformation in all hospitals: Sharad Pawar’s party

Morbi Civil Hospital gets ‘overnight makeover’ ahead of PM’s visit to meet patients

Mumbai:

The Nationalist Congress Party or NCP on Wednesday took a dig at the Center and said it should replicate the “overnight turnaround plan” of Morbi Civil Hospital in all government hospitals in the country and call it the ‘Gujarat hospital model’.

The remarks came after a hospital in Gujarat’s Morbi city was equipped ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit there on Tuesday.

Before the PM’s visit, workers were seen cleaning and painting a part of the hospital.

NCP national spokesman Clyde Cresto said in a statement that a day before the PM’s visit, Morbi Civil Hospital had undergone a “complete makeover” and was made to look clean, hygienic and modern to welcome him.

He claimed that government officials in Morbi took the Prime Minister’s visit so seriously that they replaced the faulty drinking water dispensers with new drinking water coolers.

They worked so diligently that the hospital now looks as good as new, Crasto said.

“This change will definitely help people coming to the hospital in future. So the question that arises is, if Gujarat government and civic authorities can build one hospital overnight, why can’t they do it for all hospitals in the state. ?” NCP leader said.

He said that the authorities have proved that they can make the hospitals clean and modern anytime they want.

He said that if the Gujarat government does not do this in the entire state, it will prove that the victims of Morbi bridge collapse and the people of Gujarat have no importance for them and all this was done only to please the Prime Minister.

“If so, this is indeed a shameful and insensitive act on their part,” Mr Crasto said.

“They (the central government) should replicate the Morbi Civil Hospital overnight transformation scheme in all government hospitals in the country and call it the ‘Gujarat Hospital Model’,” he suggested.
