Roger Binny will be elected the 36th BCCI President but questions remain over the presidency of the ICC. Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: The issue of ICC’s presidency will come up for discussion when the BCCI organizes its Annual General Meeting (AGM) where former India cricketers Roger Binny will replace Sourav Ganguly as the new chairman of the board on Tuesday.
The election of the next group of office bearers will be a mere formality as all are set to be elected unopposed. However, the members will consider whether the BCCI should field a candidate for the ICC President or endorse Greg Barkley for a second term.
The last date for filing nominations for the ICC top post is October 20. The ICC Board will meet on 11-13 November in Melbourne.

Ganguly’s much-talked-about exit from the BCCI has already attracted attention not only in the game but also in the political arena and it will be interesting to see if the former captain is considered for the top post.
Other names doing the rounds include Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and former BCCI President N Srinivasan.
Srinivasan is eligible to contest but it remains to be seen whether BCCI wants him to throw his hat in the ring considering his age. She is 78.
Thakur is expected to be busy during the ICC Board meeting as Himachal Pradesh goes to polls in a single phase on November 12.
new office bearers
Binny would replace Ganguly as BCCI chief and later return to his home state association CAB as president for a second term.
Other office-bearers of the BCCI elected unanimously include the secretary jay shahAshish Shelar (Treasurer), Rajiv Shukla (Vice President) and Devjit Saikia (Joint Secretary). Outgoing treasurer Arun Dhumal will be the new chairman of the IPL.
A senior BCCI official said, “It is almost certain that Jay will be India’s representative at the ICC Board meeting. But the members need to decide whether we want someone to be the ICC President or New Zealand’s Greg Barkley. Let him complete his second and final term.” told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
ICA representative
As per the agenda of the 91st AGM, two representatives of the Indian Cricketers’ Association will be included in the BCCI Apex Council to replace Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy.
However, he will be elected only in the ICA elections from 27-29 October.
Current ICA president Ashok Malhotra and former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar are contesting as the association’s male representatives in the BCCI Apex Council.
Dhumal will chair the newly formed IPL Governing Council BCCI AGM on Tuesday. The date for the IPL auction will be decided while the inaugural WIPL will also be discussed, which the board is planning to conduct ahead of the IPL in March.
Initially five teams will be part of the league but how they will be sold could be decided on Tuesday. BCCI can sell teams on a zone basis or in big cities with a solid fan base.
The tax liability for the ODI World Cup to be held in India next year will also be discussed. If the central government does not waive the tax surcharge on the ICC for hosting the event in India, India may lose up to Rs 955 crore.
