RSS pays tribute to Mulayam Singh Yadav, Sharad Yadav; To discuss ways to increase the participation of women in its annual meeting

The RSS on Sunday paid tributes to late Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, Samajwadi leader Sharad Yadav and senior advocate Shanti Bhushan at its annual general meeting here.

The three-day annual general meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) began here on Sunday, with the organization paying tributes to political leaders and eminent personalities who passed away in the last one year.

The list included over 100 names including Mulayam Singh Yadav, Sharad Yadav and Bhushan.

It also featured the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi and actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik.

In the first session of the meeting, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale read out the names of all the eminent personalities who passed away in the last year.

To discuss ways to increase the participation of women in its programs

Joint General Secretary of the Sangh Manmohan Vaidya said that the increasing participation of women in the social awareness programs of the RSS will be discussed in the annual general meeting of the organization.

The three-day annual general meeting of the RSS began here on Sunday, during which it will take stock of the work done by it and its affiliates in the last one year and also decide its course of action for the next one year.

Mr. Vaidya also said that the RSS would pass a resolution to mark the completion of 75 years of India’s independence, stressing on self-reliance.

On the question of women’s participation in RSS activities, he said the Sangh has a dedicated wing for women – the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti – which works for their overall development.

Mr. Vaidya said, “In this meeting, the increasing participation of women in the work of social awareness, awakening and social change of the Sangh will be discussed.”

He also shared the details of the smallest unit shakhas of the Sangh across the country.

“Our target is to increase the number of daily shakhas to one lakh by next year,” Mr Vaidya said, adding that about 60% of those attending the shakhas are students, while the rest are professionals, entrepreneurs and employees.

Mr Vaidya also said that in the period 2017-2022, 7.25 lakh youth requested to join the RSS through its website.
