Twitter users get irate over the phrase ‘Saali Aadhi Gharwali’ and Twitter says it should disappear.

‘Saali Aadhi Gharwali’ is a statement you must have heard many times. For those who don’t know, it means that a sister-in-law is half wife. This joke is common in the society and is raised many times during the marriage. Now, Twitter user Rituparna Chatterjee said she always felt “intimidated” by the phrase. “No, she is not your half-wife,” he continued.

The tweet immediately went viral. It garnered a total of 145K views. There were many who agreed with Rituparna and said that this phrase should disappear now. Have a look at the viral tweet:

“Dull expressions are made by men to spread their wings beyond their monogamy. Women should retaliate with full force regardless of the sweetness of the relationship. If a man affects his relationship with his wife because of it, it is not worth it.’ Another person wrote, ‘This is the most disgusting comment ever. We. The tone was always lewd.

A Twitter user wrote, “I know, right! Even when Sooraj Barjatya tried to make this phrase look ‘cool’ in his family saga #HumAapkeHakon, Mohnish Behl innocently used it as Madhuri Dixit.” I didn’t feel comfortable then. I don’t agree with it now. Sorry, but no sorry.”

Another Twitter user wrote, “My mother lost her elder sister at a young age, the oldest of her 3 children, at 6 years old. She seriously considered getting my mother married to her brother-in-law.” Not only did my mother oppose it, but thankfully so did the widower, saying she deserved her life.”
