Second phase of Panchayat elections in 9 districts next month: CEC | Chandigarh News – Times of India

Chandigarh: The Haryana State Election Commission On Friday, Haryana announced the details of the second phase of Panchayati Raj elections. The commission said that the second phase of polling will be held in nine districts of the state. In a related development, the process of filing nominations for the first phase began on Friday.
The commission said that the panchayat elections would be held in three phases. In the first two phases, elections will be held in 18 districts of the state. The details of the third phase of polling to be held in the remaining four districts will be released later.
In the second phase, voting for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections will be held on November 9. Polling for the election of Panch and Sarpanch will be held on November 12.
The nine districts where polling will be held in the second phase include Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Rohtak, Rewari, Gurugram, Sirsa, Sonipat and Charkhi Dadri,
Dhanpat Singh, who heads the State Election Commission, released the details while presiding over the meeting of the departments involved in conducting the elections. Dhanpat said that in the second phase, 48.67 lakh voters will have the right to vote in 9 districts. These include 25.89 lakh males, 22.78 females and 67 others.
There are 5,963 polling stations in these nine districts, of which 976 are sensitive and 1,023 are very sensitive.
There are 57 blocks in the nine districts of the second phase. Of these, elections will be held for the posts of 2,683 sarpanches, 25,655 panches, 1244 panchayat samitis and 158 zilla parishads.
