It was no ordinary raid for the anti-theft team of CGST Commissionerate Faridabad and even they were aware of it. Thus, the team posed as customers to bust an illegal cracker racket and also seized cash from the site.
Anti-Aviation Branch, CGST Commissionerate Faridabad, Panchkula CGST Zone received information that RP Enterprises is engaged in the sale and purchase of firecrackers without challan. RP Enterprises has its business at village Baghola in Palwal district and additional campus at Sihi Gate, Ballabhgarh, Haryana.
“Accordingly, the Anti Theft Wing, CGST Commissionerate, Faridabad conducted simultaneous searches under section 67(2) of the CGST Act, 2017 on 12th October, 2022, which continued throughout the night. The main registered principal place of business is Village- Bagola, Distt. – Palwal, Haryana was a huge complex consisting of 21 godowns, located in a very inaccessible area, submerged in water without snakes and electricity. Anti-theft officers reached the premises with great difficulty on tractors because there There was no motorable road and the area was heavily waterlogged,” GST said in a statement.

However, the information turned out to be true when the anti-theft officials found the said premises filled with crackers worth crores, which have been confiscated and the premises sealed. In addition, the officials also seized an unaccounted cash amount of Rs 50.88 lakh as well as ‘kachchi parchi (raw challan) and other documents’ indicating large-scale evasion of GST. “The quantum of GST has not been ascertained and further investigation is on,” it said.
It may be mentioned that on the basis of recent orders of Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) w.e.f. 10/10/2022, Haryana Government has directed to ban the manufacture, sale and use of all types of firecrackers except green crackers.
