Kanpur : On the instructions of Deputy Chief Traffic Manager (CTM) Ashutosh SinghKanpur Central Railway Station, Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM) Satisfaction Kumar Tripathi undertook a massive checking drive in trains between Kanpur and Delhi from 3 October. This campaign will continue till October 12.
During the ongoing operation, 427 SIs and constables were caught traveling in AC sleeper coaches without tickets. Also 6056 general passengers were caught without tickets and 31 parcel packets were also caught in general coaches which were not booked.
A fine of more than Rs 39 lakh was collected from them. The team examined 325 trains, including Kanpur ShatabdiLucknow Shatabdi, Prayagraj And labor force, Out of 427 constables who were caught without tickets, 229 were found traveling in AC coaches. A fine of around Rs 14,051 was collected from passengers who brought the parcel without booking.
Around 32 illegal vendors were also caught and handed over to RFP for legal action against them. ACM Santosh Tripathi said that this campaign will continue in the coming days as well.
“We received inputs that several policemen were doing on/off duty in AC coaches and sleeper coaches without tickets, causing inconvenience to genuine passengers.
Whenever he was asked to produce his travel authorization by the Traveling Ticket Examiners (TTE), he only presented identity cards. The ACM said that if police personnel are found traveling without tickets, necessary action will be taken against them.
