Videos of snake catchers often go viral on social media, because these people do such a thing, seeing that most people get stunned. Mostly, these rescuers stun us with the ease with which they capture potentially-dangerous snakes, but even experienced snake catchers sometimes encounter some unpleasant surprises. Recently, Karnataka narrowly escaped an attack by a hostile king cobra in a video that has now gone viral online.

In the footage, a snake catcher is seen trying to rescue the snake from the bathroom. ETV India He was identified as Ashok, a snake expert from Belthangadi in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district. There is a good population of snakes in the area.

The footage initially shows only the tail of a 14-foot king cobra, which is peeking out of the bathroom door. The snake catcher bends down to grab the tail and starts pulling it towards him. However, when the snake, a venomous king cobra, suddenly rears its head and jumps, ready to strike, it is forced to jump back in horror.

Fortunately, Ashoka managed to escape the snake’s attack, retreating in time.

Sharing the video on Twitter, Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan cited it as an example, “How not to save the snake. Especially if it is a king cobra.”

The video has garnered over 60,000 views since being shared on the microblogging platform this morning.

While several Twitter users said in the comments section that the snake rescuer got a lucky break, others found humor in the situation and also imagined the snake’s thought process.

According to ETV India, the video was filmed in late August, when a man named Gopalkrishna Bhatt found a king cobra in his bathroom. Eventually the snake was rescued and released into the forest.
