Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)’s Regional Director Sameer Wankhede had sought protection from legal action for fear of being falsely implicated.

Now, the NCB chief has reportedly told the Special NDPS Court That he is being targeted and that he is ready for investigation. He also said that his family including his sister and deceased mother were being targeted.

Two affidavits have reportedly been filed in the case, one by NCB and one by Wankhede.

Hours after witness KP Gosavi’s personal bodyguard Prabhakar came out with several charges including discussion of cell payments to NCB officials, Wankhede wrote to the Mumbai Police Commissioner expressing apprehensions that he might be implicated in a case.

“It has come to my notice that some legal action is being planned by unknown persons to falsely implicate me in connection with the alleged vigilance issue,” he said. Wankhede also said that NCB Deputy Director General Mutha Jain has referred the matter to the Director General of NCB for necessary action.

“Let a central agency probe these allegations and the truth will come out,” an official said. The letter reportedly states that jail and dismissal threats have been issued against him on the public media by highly respected public functionaries. NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik Cruz is on a war footing with Wankhede over drug seizure probe.

The Narcotics Control Bureau has earlier issued an official statement where the Regional Director Sameer Wankhede The witness has denied such allegations. The closing statement read, “Our Regional Director, Mumbai Regional Unit, Mr. Sameer Wankhede categorically denies these allegations. As regards certain contents of the affidavit relating to vigilance matters, I hereby forward this affidavit to the Director General Narcotics Control Bureau. and requesting them for further necessary action.
