Shaheen Shah Afridi is back! Pakistan pacer hits gym ahead of T20 World Cup 2022 squad announcement

pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was ruled out of the upcoming England T20I, and also recently missed the Asia Cup 2022, is back and on the road to recovery. Shaheen injured his knee while fielding during the first Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in July. Since then he has not played a single match for Pakistan. Doubts were being raised whether Shaheen would be able to make it to the T20 World Cup 2022 or not. Shaheen made a statement by posting a video a few days ago, putting an end to all such apprehensions. He posted a video of his gym session.

Shaheen is currently in London and the process of her rehabilitation is going on.

See his post here. He wrote in the caption: ‘Almost there’.

Shaheen has played 25 Tests, 32 ODIs and 40 T20 Internationals for Pakistan but in this short career he has made a huge impact on the team. He has taken 99 wickets in Tests, 62 in ODIs and 47 in T20s.

The 22-year-old pacer is known for his first over feats. He is expected to break the back of the opposition’s batting unit with his yorkers and swing bowling. That’s what he did in T20 World Cup 2021 vs India when he dismissed KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma off top-class deliveries. Since then, he has only grown into a legend in the first over burst.

Pakistan will hope that Shaheen recovers in time and can play a few games to regain match fitness.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf would be a deadly combination in Australian conditions. Not to be forgotten, the likes of Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Wasim Jr. Pakistan, in the previous edition of the World Cup, Pakistan made it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup where they lost to Australia. This year they will be eyeing to reach the finals and then win the trophy.
