Coimbatore: The Forest Department on Saturday imposed a fine of Rs 90,000 on six agricultural workers for possessing the flesh of a dead spotted deer in Jambukandi area near Anaikatty.

Seeing this, six farmhands working in the field drove the dog away and distributed the meat among themselves. Forest officials got information about the matter and reached the area, where they caught six farm laborers with meat. He confiscated meat from the workers and imposed a fine of 15,000 on each person. The workers are: S Murugan, 48, his wife M Sivakami38, M Shanti, 37, S Valli29, S Sindhu28 more S Sivakami48. tnn
