Six ways to keep exercising in winter

Different seasons of the year bring with them unique benefits for the mind, body and our mood. It can be easier to wake up in the morning during summers versus waking up in winters which is much harder to do. When it comes to exercising, motivating yourself to get out of your cozy and comfortable bed on cold winter days will be a task in itself. However, for those who wish to lose weight and get fitter, there is some motivation to continue their exercise regimen during the winter season.

Exercising during the winter can actually burn more calories than exercising in the summer. Your stamina can also be increased during the winter because the heart requires less work, you also sweat less which makes your workout more efficient.

Walking/running/jogging: Start your exercise routine with a brisk walk or maybe take a walk or run around the block in your neighborhood. These are cardiovascular activities that get your heart rate pumping and prepare you mentally and physically for your upcoming workout session.

Stretch: Make sure you spend a few minutes stretching after your jog or run. Experts recommend that you stretch before and after your workout as this will protect your muscles from injury and effectively improve your chances of getting leaner and more toned.

Surya Namaskar: In yoga, Surya Namaskar, also known as Surya Namaskar, is considered a complete body workout. Surya Namaskar consists of eight different asanas that are sequenced in a flow of 12 steps. This starts from the right side and needs to be completed on both sides for the whole cycle. If you are a beginner then you can start with 3-5 cycles and gradually increase it to 11, 21 and so on. Practicing this sequence early in the morning will boost Vitamin D in your body and will have many physical and mental health benefits.

Energy Breathing: Pranayama is a breathing exercise that can be done to achieve many health benefits for both mind and body. Techniques like Kapalbhati Pranayama and Khanda Pranayama are suggested for you during winters.

Meditation Techniques: There are many meditation techniques that you can practice regularly such as position meditation, self meditation, aarambh meditation etc. Here is a simple and powerful meditation technique to create positivity.
