Smoke fills cabin on SpiceJet flight, crew asks passengers to pray – Times of India

Hyderabad: DGCA An inquiry has been ordered into Wednesday’s incident. Airport sources said one passenger was injured and was taken to a medical center at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. A source said, “He suffered minor injuries and complained of breathlessness. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Jubilee Hills for some time, after which he was discharged.”
Passengers feared for their lives, recalling the agony inside SG 3735. Srikanth M, an IT professional from Hyderabad shares, “They (crew members) asked us to pray to God. Pray for our families. It was painful. Many of my co-passengers panicked and Started screaming.” Photos and videos taken inside the aircraft. He was on his first flight with friends.
The DGCA recently extended the 50% limit on SpiceJet flights for another month. Reportedly, the airline has seen at least eight aircraft-related incidents this year.
Anil P, an employee of a private company, said, “Something happened in the washroom. We heard the crew talking in a calm voice. For the next 20 minutes, there was smoke all around us.” “Soon, the lights came on and the crew told us to stop talking, not to leave our seats.” Another passenger said the crew told people to “jump and run” as soon as the emergency doors opened upon landing. “The airline staff forced us to remove the video and pictures of the incident… They snatched my phone when I refused,” Srikkanth said.
