Some users say that their hub’s HDMI and USB-C ports are working fine but for some users their USB hub is not working at all.
Users have reported this issue on Apple’s own developer forums since July when macOS Monterey was in its beta form. Now more users are searching for it after it is publicly available. MacRumors reports that a user on the developer forum wrote, “I can’t connect the trackball or keyboard over the air via the hub’s USB 2.0 or 3.0 port because the hub’s VGA port is still on Monterey since I installed Monterey.” I haven’t tested the other ports yet. Also, a different hub (with fewer ports…) works.”
The report states that some users have complained that Apple Support staff is asking them to use an Apple-certified hub to fix it, however, the issue still persists. Another user wrote that, “My solution (recently discovered) is to use a very short USB-C cable (like 30cm)! For me, everything is working now… but it’s permanent.” There shouldn’t be a solution.”
The report also states that Thunderbolt docks are not affected by this issue. No specific triggers for this issue have yet been confirmed, but they are probably for a specific hub or processor used in the dock.
