Colombo: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed his gratitude.people of india“To hand over 2 billion rupees of humanitarian aid amid the prevailing economic crisis on the island country.

India on Sunday handed over a huge consignment of humanitarian aid worth more than two billion rupees to the island nation, which reached Colombo. The consignment includes 9,000 metric tonnes of rice, and 50 metric tonnes of milk powder, over 25 metric tonnes of medicines and other pharmaceutical supplies.
As per the Colombo page report, the consignment will be distributed among several beneficiaries across the country by the Sri Lankan government. Beneficiaries include the Northern, Eastern, Central and Western Provinces, covering different sections of the society.
Earlier, the Government of India has also sent dry ration, medicines and other essential items to Sri Lanka on a grant basis.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka struggles to cope with its severe economic crunch affecting large numbers of people from food and fuel shortages, rising prices and power cuts.
