Sri Lanka Cricket’s selection committee on Friday selected an 18-man squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against India. Meanwhile, Niroshan Dickwella and Dhananjay de Silva have been included in the T20 squad in place of injured Kusal Mendis and Mahesh Thekshana. Both Mendis and Thekshana suffered hamstring injuries during the 5th T20I vs Australia. Mahesh Thekshana will return home while Vanindu Hasaranga will also return home from Australia. SL Youth and Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa approved the squad below.
Test Squad: Dimuth Karunaratne – Captain, Pathum Nisanka, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dhananjay De Silva – Vice-Captain, Kusal Mendis – Subject to Fitness, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Charit Aslanka, Niroshan Dickwella, Chamika Karunaratne, Ramesh Mendis – will not participate due to injury , Lahiru Kumara, Suranga Lakmal, Dushmantha Chamira, Vishwa Fernando, Jeffrey Vandersay, Praveen Jayavikrema and Lasith Embuldeniya.
India beat Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the first T20I on Thursday. Both the teams will now face each other in the second T20 match on Saturday.
