New Delhi: Two weeks after the MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government urged President Draupadi Murmu to set a time-frame for governors to pass the bills, the chief minister on Friday went to Delhi to inaugurate one of his flagship projects. Personally invited. Superspeciality Hospital in Chennai.
The Chief Minister’s Office and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) officially stated that the discussion between Stalin and Murmu was limited to the invitation. Meanwhile, several DMK leaders and party spokespersons told ThePrint that they were informally told not to go beyond the brief.
The Tamil Nadu government said in a statement that Stalin has also invited Murmu to participate in the centenary celebrations of his late father, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, which will be held at the YMCA ground on June 5. The President has accepted both the invitations.
Stalin had announced the construction of a multi-superspeciality hospital on the campus of the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research in Guindy on June 3, 2021, on the occasion of Karunanidhi’s 97th birth anniversary. The hospital has 1,000 beds. Built over an area of 51,429 sq ft at a cost of Rs 230 crore.
Stalin’s visit to Delhi comes at a time when the Tamil Nadu Assembly has passed a formal resolution Urged the Central Government and President Murmu to fix a time limit for the Governors to give assent to the Bills passed by the legislatures.

The state had also passed another resolution urging the central government to amend the constitution to ensure reservation for Dalit Christians.
Meanwhile, Stalin also met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the Delhi airport while the former was waiting to board a flight back to Chennai. Sitharaman’s official handle Tweeted about the meeting.
