CHENNAI: Three low incidence districts of the state reported a marginal increase of one to four new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, when Tamil Nadu A decline of 1,467 new cases was recorded as compared to the 1,531 cases reported on Sunday.
With 181 new cases, Chennai continued to report the highest number of cases, followed by Coimbatore (155) and Chengalpet (103). The 16 deaths recorded on Monday took the cumulative toll to 35,666. After the state discharged 1,599 people from the Covid registry, there were 16,894 people who were still under treatment for the viral infection. Four districts – Chennai (1917), Coimbatore (1901), Chengalpet (1126) and Erode (1109) had the highest number of active cases.
Of the 16 deaths, four were from Chennai, three were from thanjavuri, and two each from Tiruvallur and Madurai. While five districts reported one death each, 29 others reported zero deaths.
