Tamil Nadu BJP chief’s big allegation on DMK minister’s video with poll candidate

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party chief Annamalai has shared a purported video clip of a conversation between DMK minister KN Nehru and Erode bypoll candidate EVKS Elangovan, alleging that they were discussing cash for votes.

The video shows a microphone picking up the audio of a conversation in the background.

Annamalai has alleged that Nehru and Elangovan were discussing “cash for votes” in the video.

Sharing the video on Sunday, Annamalai tweeted, “DMK faces elections pinning its hopes on money power and they think money can buy anything!”

According to the state BJP chief, the DMK minister can be heard talking about providing cash to meet at a place called ‘Platinum Mahal’, and it should be completed between January 30 and February 1.

“Let’s see if Mahesh (minister Ambil Mahesh) is coming or we will do it ourselves. Nassar is saying he doesn’t need more than 5. He is unhappy after keeping Nassar there. Majority of the local people there From Viduthalai Siruthaigal Bhai (VCK party). In the video shared by Annamalai, Nehru said, “Look where he is missing to give (money). We will give ourselves At least I’ll turn it off. Even Senthil Balaji (minister) will give.”

The Election Commission has announced the bye-election for the Erode (East) constituency in Tamil Nadu on 27 February. The counting of votes will be done on March 2. The filing of nominations will begin on January 31 and end on February 7.

From the DMK alliance, Congress will contest the election and has declared EVKS Elangovan as its candidate. Makkal Needhi Maiam president and actor Kamal Haasan has announced his support to the DMK alliance candidate.
