Tata flagship promises Nu App to provide attractive features to consumers

Tata’s Super App New will not confine itself to the group’s offerings after taking feedback from its customers but will also cater to the new segment.

Tata Group chairman N Chandrasekaran said the app will make its offerings “attractive to consumers” and will develop those offerings after taking inputs from users.

Tata Neu has been downloaded about 2.2 million times.

Mukesh Bansal, chairman of Tata Digital, said during an event that with a super app, they “want to cover most of the consumer consumption patterns”.

Globally, the successful super apps are built around core services such as social messaging, digital payments, food technology, e-mobility, online shopping, payment of utility bills and more.

According to market research firm RedSeer, India’s consumer digital economy is projected to reach $800 billion by 2030 and online retail will make up the big pie.

The online retail market in the country is expected to grow to $350 billion in Gross Merchant Value (GMV) over the next decade.

According to Tata Digital CEO Prateek Pal, the app has a cumulative consumer base of 120 million users, 2,500 offline stores, as well as an 80 million app footprint across the group’s digital assets.

“We have over a dozen category-leading consumer brands ranging from electronics, fashion, travel, hospitality, groceries, pharmacy and financial services. We are confident that with Tata New, we will create a vastly different consumer platform,” Pal had earlier said.

Tata is home to a number of brands including New AirAsia India, BigBasket, Croma, IHCL, Cumin, Starbucks, Tata 1mg, Tata Cliq, Tata Play and Westside.

“As more brands and categories are added, the app will continue to grow,” Tata Digital said.

In addition, it offers a rewards program – NewPass.

“Members earn 5 percent ‘NewCoin’ or more every time they shop, dine or travel through Tata New,” the company said.
