Bangalore:

The Karnataka Legislative Assembly has over the years seen members come wearing helmets, night wear, and on one occasion an MLA tears his shirt off. Though these were all intentional acts, what happened on Wednesday evening was definitely unplanned.

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah faced wardrobe malfunction while discussing a serious issue in the Assembly. His party colleague and Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar was seen whispering in his ear. But for all sanity, Mike raised: “Your punches (Dhoti) has fallen.”

Siddaramaiah was calm and surprised. He sat down and said, “Is it so?” Cut to a long shot as the official feed of the assembly. Instead of hiding the matter, Siddaramaiah said loudly, “My punches has come undone. I’ll tie it up and continue.”

There was laughter in the house including Kumar Bangarappa in the speaker’s seat. A comment was also heard in the background: “There is no one in the front seat.”

The Karnataka Assembly is in its first session since Basavaraj Bommai took over as Chief Minister from BS Yediyurappa.
