Asked about the remark challenging CM Shinde to contest against him from Worli, the health minister said Thackeray should be admitted to one of the state’s mental hospitals.

Maharashtra Health Minister Tanaji Sawant on Saturday hit out at Aaditya Thackeray for calling CM Shinde ‘challenging’ and said he should be admitted to one of the “four mental hospitals” in Maharashtra.

“I have a health department, four mental hospitals. I would advise the CM that a man who is mentally affected should be admitted to a hospital where there is a vacancy.”

Thackeray had last week called Chief Minister Eknath Shinde an “unconstitutional chief minister” and challenged him to contest against him from Worli seat.

“In no other state in India, have we seen 40 traitors jump on the floor, go to a party and sit without election. They do not even have the courage to conduct elections in their constituencies. I have challenged this unconstitutional chief minister (Eknath Shinde) to contest the assembly elections against me.

“I will resign from my seat and he should resign from his seat, and let him contest against me from Worli. It is a simple challenge because according to him, he is a popular leader and very strong. If he has the guts to contest elections, he should,” he said, according to ANI.

In response, the Balasahebchi Shiv Sena (BSS) on Tuesday termed the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader’s comments as “childish”.

Shinde-led Balasahebchi Shiv Sena spokesperson Naresh Mhaske said Aaditya Thackeray is not even a shakha pramukh (local party unit chief) and he should compare himself with the CM, who is a bigot, according to PTI.

Aaditya Thackeray, who was a cabinet minister in the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by his father Uddhav Thackeray, is the current MLA from Worli for the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).
