New Delhi A delegation of Trinamool Congress MPs will reach Delhi on Sunday night to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to talk about the alleged police brutality in Tripura.

The party has sought an appointment with Shah and party leaders are going to sit on dharna from Monday morning.

Bengali actress and Trinamool Congress (TMC) youth leader Sayoni Ghosh was arrested by the Tripura Police on Sunday.

The incident came to light on the eve of TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s roadshow in Tripura’s capital Agartala. He is scheduled to reach the state on Sunday night. Several TMC leaders including Kunal Ghosh and Sushmita Dev are in the Tripura capital for campaigning.

The Trinamool Congress alleged that BJP goons attacked the police station where Sayoni was being questioned during the day. Kunal Ghosh and other TMC leaders were at the police station then. Ghosh said the attack and the arrest of the actress were pre-planned to spoil Banerjee’s roadshow.

Party MP Derek O’Brien tweeted, “Gujarat model in Tripura. All India Trinamool Congress will never accept this kind of fascist brutality. Trinamool MPs went to Delhi.

Sources said the party’s delegation comprises more than 15 members.
