TMC students’ union, which organized KK’s last show, says all protocols were followed

Singer KK passed away on Tuesday night allegedly of a heart attack after performing a show at Kolkata’s Nazrul Manch. Hours after his death, eyewitnesses claimed that the hall was overcrowded, the air-conditioning was not working and the singer complained of heat and humidity during the show.

On May 31, the show was organized by Black Eyed Events House, an event management company based in Kolkata. It was organized on behalf of the student union of Gurudas College, which is managed by the All India Trinamool Congress – the student wing of the All India Trinamool Chhatra Parishad.

The same event managing company also organized a college fest for Vivekananda College on May 30, where KK performed at the same venue.

‘Following protocol’

Speaking exclusively to India Today, Suman Hore, Vice President of Gurudas College Students’ Union, said that they followed all the necessary protocols in organizing the program on Tuesday.

“We distributed passes among our college students only. We followed all the protocols. We had taken permission from Kolkata Police. The program was attended by 30-35 bouncers, police and an ambulance.

He said, “We gave 3,500 passes to our college students. At least 5,000 people turned up to watch the show. We don’t know where they came from. They jumped across the walls to gain entry. Our volunteers tried to hold the crowd, but they could not.

He admitted that the air conditioners in the auditorium were not working properly. However, he said that KK did not complain of any health problem during the show on Tuesday.

Popular singer cremated In Mumbai on Thursday, June 2. His last rites were performed at the Versova Hindu Crematorium in the presence of close family members and friends.

Earlier, his body was honored with a cannon salute at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also present in the House to pay her last respects. KK’s family took his body to Mumbai by flight on 1 June.

The hugely popular singer KK got a break from AR Rahman’s hit songs ‘Kalluri Saale’ and ‘Hello Doctor’. She made her Bollywood debut by singing a small part of ‘Chhod Aaye Hum’ from Gulzar’s Maachis. However, his first full Bollywood song was the very popular ‘Tadap Tadap Ke’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999.
