TN revamps placement cell in colleges to provide 100% placement

According to a senior official of the higher education department, the placement cell will coordinate directly between the final year students and the HR departments of the companies so that the students get placed by the end of their course.

Tamil Nadu has 30 government and government-aided engineering colleges, 50 state government arts and science colleges and 80 government polytechnics.

The placement officers will directly contact the HR department of the companies and instructions are being given to involve top level companies to get good placements for the students.

However, the marks obtained by the students from SSLC classes till the final semester in the college will be considered for placement.

Apart from this the placement officers will guide the aspiring students on basic etiquettes of dress code, how to face the interview, and prepare the students for their big day.

State Higher Education Minister, K. Ponmudi is directly in charge of the placement department and will review the progress of the department from time to time.

The students will also be directed not to speak ill of the colleges they study and not to speak ill of their professors during and after the interview, which the college will arrange for the students through the placement cell.

Higher education department officials told IANS that the placement officers would communicate with the HR department of companies to ensure that they interview students when they are in the final semester of their classes.

The placement officials will update the students to browse the details of those companies and understand the basics about the company before attending the interview.
