Took bribe on record: Trinamool’s Abhishek Banerjee on former aide Suvendu

Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee during a public meeting in Haldia on Saturday targeted BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari and said that the officer took bribe on record.

“One person has destroyed the work culture in Haldia and robbed you all. They have taken bribe on record,” the TMC leader said.

“The man who vandalized the idols of Vidyasagar jumped on his feet to save himself from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI),” he said.

Haldia is considered to be the stronghold of Suvendu Adhikari. Banerjee termed the Leader of the Opposition a “wall” who did not allow the people of East Midnapore to reach West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“In 2011, we won by our ideology and Mamata’s face,” the CM’s nephew said.

“After 2011, a wall was built so that there was no relationship between us and the people. Today, I broke the wall,” the TMC leader said.

Taking a jibe at former aide Suvendu Adhikari, he said, “The leader joined a party whose ideology declared the 1942 revolution illegal.”

Talking about his ED summons, the TMC MP said, “I was called to Delhi, I went and faced ED/CBI. I did not succumb to pressure like you. I know how to answer you in your language.”

“I will not allow outsiders to work for eight hours and pay extra in Haldia. People of Haldia will be given first preference.”

He said that there are people in the judiciary who are giving every case to the CBI. “Some people are also stopping the police investigation into murder cases,” he said.

“We have Haldia Municipal Corporation elections, who are with TMC from day one and have not left TMC in their dire circumstances, they will represent us,” he said.

Talking to party workers, he said, “I can promise you that those who have come from CPM and BJP will not set conditions for those who have been since TMC’s inception,” he said.
