The city police on Sunday arrested six persons, including two media persons, for allegedly threatening a businessman and demanding an extortion of ₹ 1.20 lakh at Pendurthi here. All the accused allegedly claimed that they were media persons.
According to the police, on the night of October 21, six men from Pendurathi and Chinnamushidiwada areas threatened a businessman with ₹3 lakh to continue his business. They allegedly assaulted her and extorted ₹1.2 lakh and also asked her to pay ₹1.8 lakh at the earliest.
Based on the complaint of the victim, the police have arrested the accused by forming special teams.
