British MP David Ames, who was attacked on Friday, was stabbed multiple times and emergency workers were still caring for him at a church where the attack took place, a local councilor said.
“He was stabbed several times,” John Lamb told Reuters. “We’re not sure how serious it is but it doesn’t look good.”
Lamb said the attack happened around noon (11:00 GMT) and believed emergency workers were trying to stabilize Eames before attempting to move him from the church.
He said that there is a police cordon around the building.
Lamb is the chairman of the Conservative Party in the Southend West constituency, which is represented in the UK Parliament by Ames.
