Srinagar: Former Australian cricketer and World Cup winning coach dave whatmore said on sunday Umran Malik It was a breath of fresh air in the world of fast bowling and expressed hope that the 22-year-old moves from strength to strength.
Whatmore, who arrived in Srinagar as part of a camp at a private school here, said many JK youth would like to emulate the feeling of speed.
“Umran Malik is a breath of fresh air when it comes to fast and fast bowling. He has been amazing to the extent that he was retained by him (IPL) suffrage which is a big deal. I am sure there are many youths in this state who would like to emulate Malik.”
He congratulated Malik on his selection in the Indian cricket team.
“Hope he does well. Congratulations on being selected in the Indian team. We all hope he goes from strength to strength,” Whatmore said.
He was asked about his favorite for the IPL final match to be played between Rajasthan Royals And Gujarat TitansWhatmore said that it is really good for those two teams to play in the final for the IPL.
“I don’t know which way to go. Both have good reasons to win the IPL. I may have some inclination later in the day, but both are very good teams,” he added.
Whatmore, who was part of the Australian team that played a match here in 1979, expressed hope that his second visit to the Valley would not be his last.
“I played a match here in 1979 when Australia toured India and there was a match in Srinagar. I remember that was the first game on the tour, so Srinagar was my first experience,” he said. “That was amazing. This is my second visit and I hope it’s not the last.”
