Speakers at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) award function on Monday said fake news and TRP (television rating points) are the worst factors affecting the media in present times.

While giving away the awards to the journalists, the speakers urged the journalists to write only what is “right”. He said that journalists should remember their responsibility towards the country.

The awards named ‘Dev Rishi Narad Patrakar Samman’ were distributed at a function organized by ‘Indraprastha Vishwa Samvad Kendra’ (publicity wing of RSS-Delhi) at New Maharashtra Sadan in the national capital. Minister of State for Law and Justice SP Singh Baghel, Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar and RSS Deputy Publicity Incharge Narendra Thakur participated in it.

Mr. Baghel said that communalism is a bigger problem for India than corruption.

The Minister of State said that everyone believed that no one should tamper with the basic structure of the Constitution. Similarly, the basic structure of India before 1192, was ‘Akhand Bharat’ – ‘Hindu Rashtra’, he said.

Mr Thakur said fake news has affected the RSS as much as everyone else, and urged the media to put some “good news” on the front page so that people remain “inspired”.
