Washington: The White House on Friday (October 15) said it will lift the COVID-19 travel ban for fully vaccinated foreign nationals, effective November 8, ending the historic restrictions that have hit the world’s most vaccinated foreign nationals. Most were barred from entering the United States.
White House spokesman Kevin Munoz posted on Twitter, announcing the start date for new rules on travel in and out of the country, that the policy is “guided by public health, stringent and consistent.”

Non-essential travelers have been banned across land borders with Mexico and Canada since March 2020 to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shares of the US airline, hotel and cruise industry rose 2% on the news, including American Airlines; Marriott International Inc., up 3.7%; and Carnival Corp., up 1.6%.
The US Department of Transportation said on Friday that US international air passenger traffic was down 43% in August and total passenger air traffic was down 21% from pre-pandemic levels.
“In recent weeks, airlines have seen an increase in international ticket sales,” Nick Calio, chief executive of the Airlines for America Industry trade group, said in a statement.
“Fully reopening international travel is also critical to revitalizing economies around the world, revitalizing communities and supporting millions of jobs in the US and abroad,” Calio said. The United States had lagged behind many other countries in lifting such sanctions.
The White House announced Tuesday it would lift restrictions on its land borders and ferry crossings with Canada and Mexico Fully vaccinated foreign nationals in early November. They are similar but not identical to the requirements announced last month for international air travelers.
