Earlier on Monday, Varun Gandhi had said that a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC should be registered against those involved in the death of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri. He had emphasized that the protesting farmers should be treated with restraint and patience.

Party sources said the Pilibhit MP’s stand on the incident was not taken well by the top BJP leadership.
