Veteran singer Bhupinder Singh passes away at the age of 82

Veteran singer Bhupinder Singh passed away on Monday evening. He was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai where he breathed his last. Singh was 82 years old.

Bhupinder Singh’s wife confirmed this while talking to Indian Express and shared that the last rites of the singer will take place on Tuesday. “He passed away on Monday and the last rites will mostly take place on Tuesday. He had a stomach ailment,” she said.

Sharing details about Bhupinder Singh’s death, Dr Deepak Namjoshi, Director, Criticare Asia Hospital revealed that the singer was hospitalized for the past ten days. However, his condition worsened after being infected with the coronavirus. His health worsened on Monday morning after which he was put on ventilator. “Bhupinder ji was admitted to our hospital ten days back. He had got an infection. We had a strong suspicion that he had a stomach ailment and we are investigating. During this time he got Kovid-19. His condition deteriorated on Monday morning and we had to put him on ventilator. He suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away at 7:45 pm,” the doctor was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Following the news of his demise, singer Vishal Dadlani took to Twitter to pay tribute to the veteran. “In memory #BhupinderSingh ji. With a voice from a gentleman’s time. Sad poetry that he should follow Lataji, as he did so beautifully in the song #NaamGamjayega composed by #RDBurman and penned by Gulzarsab. His voice is the identity, and we will remember,” he wrote.
