In a much-loved incident, police in Victoria arrested a centenarian for helping to mark an item off her bucket list. Taking to Facebook, the department shared the story. “Arrests like this now, we’re happy. For many, living a life without being arrested is a pretty good run. An obvious one we’d like to think about.
But for former nurse Jean Bicton – who recently celebrated her 100th birthday, a good run in itself – getting arrested was on her bucket list,” the department wrote. It further noted that when they heard of Jean’s wishes, the team at Mo Station was ready to step in and help stop it.
This happened as she was celebrating her milestone at Narrakan Gardens Residential Aged Care and three young constables, circling in lights and sirens, made sure Jean’s birthday wishes came true. “While immediately briefing residents of the incident (to ensure that no one was in trouble), officers gently handcuffed Ms. Bicketton, and declared her ‘officially’ under arrest. It was one of the best celebrations, according to Jean. The department mentioned that they are glad to be able to help provide the experience. Since being uploaded, the image has gone viral and has managed to garner over 1K likes.
