Actor-Comedian Vir Das Just Launched a Beer, and Your Parents Won’t Accept Its Name

Vir Das did the unexpected: launched a craft beer. However, the name seems to be on brand for the actor-comedian, popular for his edgy sense of humour: FAAAAKIT.

He tells the name over the phone from Mumbai. , To be honest, I sang jingles earlier. I tried names with different numbers of A’s. It took four A’s to get the sound I wanted. He felt like pulling more than this. So I closed it at four o’clock.”

Weir, who claims it is not a heavy brewer, says this craft beer is neither too sweet nor bitter, and is in line with evolving trends. He hastily adds that he’s not a beer snob: “There’s absolutely no need to know everything about wine or beer. You drink what you like. Period,” he insists.

Describing how it evolved, he says, “I wanted to taste and feel, and that’s exactly the flavor I was looking for at my brewery (Craft Breweries – Great State Aleworks)” did.”

Weir spent more than a year trying to find the right blend of flavors before hopping into the final brew – clean, crisp with less bitterness and a fruity and dry finish. The beer will be available in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad

What next after beer? “I am not doing anything with merchandising. I will not sell T-shirts or shoes. And whatever I will do after this and after my 32 country world tour, it will be an extension of my brand,” he says, adding that he is now excited to tour again after a two-year pandemic.

On the work front, Veer says that he is working on his new sketch, and has completed shooting, directing and acting for the show to be aired on an OTT platform. “I’ve even wrapped an American TV show titled country east with Fox Entertainment, and completed shooting for an American film by Judd Apatow. it is titled bubble, And I play the lead role. These are all in dramedy style,” he says. He will also be shooting for a Hindi film by the end of next year.

Popular on social media for his political humour, Veer gets both praise and brickbats. While praise is good, he says, “I take criticism seriously because it helps me know what my audience thinks of my work, that’s what all artists do.
