Tim Cook reveals what it takes to be an Apple employee. The 11-year-old Apple CEO was speaking at the University of Naples Federico II in Italy. According to Cook, the people Apple has hired are the keys to its success. Employers typically look for people with four shared skills.
Cook stressed that this has been a very successful formula for the company and that such features have also fostered an ambitious yet encouraging workplace environment. According to the CEO, the four skills Apple is always on the lookout for are collaboration, creativity, curiosity and expertise.

Cook says collaboration is so important because it connects all three of the other skills. “We seek the fundamental feeling that if I share my idea with you, that idea will grow and grow bigger and get better,” Cook was quoted as saying by CNBC.
According to Cook, Apple looks for individuals who have unconventional thinking styles and who are not bound by the principle of how a problem has always been solved. Calling it a “cliché,” according to Cook, “there are no dumb questions” and it’s “wonderful” when someone starts asking questions like a child.

At the Utah Tech Tour in October 2016, Cook said that Apple is looking for “wicked smart” employees. Even superheroes cannot accomplish everything alone. So, while there are a lot of “wicked smart” people, the organization looks for people who are very cooperative, he continued.
Apple had earlier said in a statement that the company has always been strongly dedicated to establishing and maintaining an environment that is welcoming to all employees. Employee allegations of a “toxic” environment that surfaced in September prompted the company’s response.

It respects the privacy of all concerned and takes all complaints seriously. Apple said it also conducts a comprehensive investigation whenever a complaint is made.
