Being Indians, we don’t take our tea lightly, and if you want to be accepted by us, you shouldn’t either! We are a nation that thrives on our daily cup of kadak tea. Be it regular morning tea or ‘cutting’ at the next corner shop, we cannot imagine spending a day without tea. And we’re usually happy when people from other cultures and countries embrace our favorite drink and try to make it on their own, it’s all fun and games, until – you make it right. Recently, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a renowned Indian-American neurosurgeon, a prominent TV personality who is also CNN’s chief medical correspondent, was teaching his daughters how to make tea. The recipe was like a family heirloom passed down through the generations, and it all went great, until that was the case!

While the video started on a nostalgic note, with Dr. Sanjay explaining that the cup he is using belongs to his mother, the internet lost it when he was seen using tea bags instead of loose tea. But, what inspired everyone the most, was the final product, as one of Dr. Sanjay’s daughters poured the tea in the teapot – it looked too pale and was not the kind of tea we used to have in our own hands. The final product didn’t go down too well with tea lovers on Twitter and many were clearly left unhappy after watching the video. Indians around the world mocked him for his westernization of the desi staple. Several people reported that it was not tea at all:
